Housing availability is a constant media topic and HIA will continue to engage with all levels of government with a focus on removing the barriers to increasing land supply, reducing cost across the home build process, addressing skill shortages and promoting home building as an excellent career opportunity.
To increase demand, the barriers and risk to entering the build process need to be addressed.
Another significant concern for our industry is the imposed ban on the use of engineered stone. Beyond making the grand announcement of the ban, details of how a transition might work are very limited. The only certainty at this stage is that you should no longer be entering into contracts that include the use of engineered stone unless you are certain the work will be completed before 1 July 2024.
