Election
The Federal election has finally been called! This will be an interesting time, as housing is a key issue for the major political parties as they grapple with the challenges of making housing more affordable.
No doubt we will be presented with some interesting policies on housing pitched to the electorate in the coming weeks. Our Canberra team will keep us in the loop as the campaign rolls on.
Copper
You will recall in February the State government announced a suite of law reforms to crackdown on the theft of copper and other scrap metal from building sites.
Since that action, which was strongly supported by HIA, there has been significant progress made with the development of this legislation to curb this behaviour. The public consultation period has now closed. HIA Executive Director, Stephen Knight, is engaging with government for next steps.
