SA President's report

{{ tag.label }} {{ tag.label }} $vuetify.icons.faTimes
Put yourself on trial, it will be the best thing you ever do.

Peter McIndoe

HIA South Australia President

The HIA is seeking expressions of interest from members to participate in a Mock Court experience.

I have participated in the Mock Court session through a program run by our Weeks business; I can say the experience while challenging, is extremely worthwhile.

This course will sharpen your focus on the importance of worksite safety and help you appreciate the gravity of being in a court room. It will also incentivise you to make sure it never happens in real life.

I strongly urge all members to register and participate.

Housing Road Map

It has been a year since the SA Government launched its Housing Roadmap. To date two water and sewer infrastructure projects are now underway which will allow for new homes to be built in Adelaide’s northern suburbs.

Bookending Curtis Road between Andrews Road and Main North Road, the projects involve the installation of 5,200 metres of new trunk water main, along with 800 metres of new trunk sewer main and a new sewer ventilation system.

Through the work of Stephen Knight and his team we will continue to hold the government to account to ensure time frames are kept.

Garage Extensions

The HIA and other industry bodies continue to campaign against this proposal by the SA Government.

Under the governments proposed policy garage sizes would increase from 5.4m by 3m to 6m by 3.5m

We had the opportunity on the 1st of July to continue to prosecute our case as to why this will increase costs for home owners. We will keep members updated on any news.
