The result was announced at the 2024 HIA-Tradelink Western Victoria Regional Housing Awards, held at the RACV Torquay Resort on Friday 6 September.
Conceived from the ground up as the clients’ “forever home”, this project is a showcase of exceptional craftsmanship on the builder’s part. The façade uses Krause bricks, handmade in Stawell, and thermally modified Adobo timber from New Zealand. The interior is equally well-appointed with high quality fixtures and finishes that will stand the test of time.
Expansive glazing and high-pitched ceilings bring ensure spaces are light-filled. The home features a wine cellar, sauna, gym, pool, spa, fire pit and two outdoor kitchens – and the inclusion of a lift means the owners will be able to continue to enjoy all these features as they age.
HIA’s judges noted that the builder has paid careful attention to even the smallest details, and they were especially impressed with the beautiful finish the builder has achieved on the home’s many curved walls, ceilings, benchtops, and especially its intricate centrepiece staircase.
“HIA congratulates ARCA Build on this outstanding achievement,” says Keith Ryan, HIA Victoria Executive Director.
“This home is a fantastic example of the high quality work that HIA members are producing.”
In addition to 2024 HIA Western Victoria Home of the Year, this project also won ARCA Build the Custom Built Home of the Year, Custom Built Home over $2 million and New Kitchen over $80,000 awards. ARCA Build also won the Renovation/Addition Project $500,000 - $1 million award for another home in East Geelong.
It was an impressive night for Ballarat-based builders, with Oasis Building Group winning six awards (including Display Home of the Year and Bathroom of the Year) and Stroud Homes Ballarat winning five awards (including Project Home of the Year).
Southwest Majestic Homes from Warrnambool won three awards, including Kitchen of the Year. Ridgewater Property Group won three awards, including Spec Home of the Year. Coastyle Building Solutions took home the Renovation/Addition Project of the Year and Renovation/Addition Project over $1.5 million awards.
Lifestyle Builders Geelong won three awards in total: two in the custom built home categories, and one for townhouse/villa development. First Impressions Projects won two residential design awards and a renovation/addition award, all for a standout project in Geelong West. Sherridon Homes also won three awards: one each in the display home, kitchen and bathroom categories. And Geelong-based Enso Homes won two project home awards.
Let’s Talk Kitchens and Interiors won two awards, in the renovated kitchen and kitchen design categories. Also winning awards were DBS Homes, Hermitage Building Group, Live Green Homes and Mackkcon Homes.
“The HIA Awards are a showcase of the best of the best in the residential building industry, and of the absolutely outstanding quality of work done by HIA members.
“The homes recognised in the 2024 HIA-Tradelink Western Victoria Regional Housing Awards are exceptional, and HIA congratulates all of the winners and finalists,” said Mr Ryan.
HIA thanks its awards partners Tradelink, H&I Consulting Engineers and HIA Insurance Services. A full list of winners can be found below.
