Tasmania’s Lane Group Construction won the 2023 HIA Australian Outdoor Project for a stunning cantilevered swimming pool that extends towards the cliff edge and treetops.
The pool, partially enclosed within a spotted-gum clad cabana with a soaring skylight overhead, features a waterfall edge that cantilevers towards a dramatic 75-metre cliff face. The interior is protected from the external elements by an automatic sliding door that rolls over the pool to ensure the facilities, including a shower, sauna and spa, can be used in comfort in any season.
The adjoining internal spaces open out onto an alfresco area that can be covered by an operable roof. Here, the outdoor kitchen unobtrusively incorporates an integrated fridge, barbeque and pizza oven for optimal entertaining, allowing the fireplace with stone surrounds to be the main focal point.
The magnificent outdoor project is finished in a selection of organic, natural materials that reflect the beauty of the surrounding bushland.
HIA Managing Director Graham Wolfe said the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards recognise the best in Australia’s residential building industry.
“HIA is committed to recognising the outstanding achievements of our members. The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards allow us to acknowledge their skill and their commitment to quality in design, material selection and construction.
“Our Awards’ program brings together members who excel in building exceptional homes, kitchens and bathrooms and run highly successful businesses,” Mr Wolfe concluded.
Winners were announced during the 2023 HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards presentation on 20 May on Hamilton Island.
The HIA Australian Outdoor Project category partnered by James Hardie is for the design, installation and project coordination of a swimming pool, spa, outdoor structure or landscaping project in a residential context.
