Winner: Greenbuild Constructions

This luxurious seven bedroom home by builder Greenbuild Constructions has the distinctive honour of being Australia’s favourite property after being named the 2023 HIA–CSR Australian People’s Choice Home of the Year.

Voted as the winner through Houzz Australia, the People’s Choice award is in the hands of the public, offering the opportunity for devotees of beautiful homes and interiors to weigh in on their favourite project from the 2022 HIA-CSR Home of the Year state winners.

The announcement was made on 20 May as part of the presentation of the 2023 HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards, with the Hunter builder selected as the consumers’ top choice.

The graceful home is a magnificent response to its setting against a granite ridge in Port Stephens, the stunning street frontage of curved masonry and rich timber battens only hinting at what the property conceals within.

Carefully engineered to be built into the rock shelf and connect with the mountainous coastline backdrop, the grand seven-bedroom, four-bathroom home is unveiled over several levels as it cascades down the slope.

Off-form concrete gives shape to three outdoor entertaining spaces, including a cantilevered pool, the contours perfectly mimicked in the roofline above. A moody interior palette is adhered to throughout, starting with the burnished concrete floors that are replicated in the kitchen benchtops and continued with dark-toned fixtures, vanities and deep-hued walnut timber panelling.
