Townhouse / Villa Development

HIA ACT Southern NSW Housing and Kitchen and Bathroom Awards

Winner: Bellevue Building Projects and DNA Architects

Haig Parkside is an example of well-considered urban infill development that integrates and provides a positive contribution to the local streetscape and an opportunity for people to age in their suburb. This project consists of 12, 3-bedroom townhouses. The 12 terrace style townhouses are oriented north-south along the Greenway Street frontage to maximise street activation, southern views to Haig Park and northern orientation to the large rear common area providing an extended private garden and enhanced community feel. Aimed to connect with the original site and the inner-north, ship-lapped western red cedar was utilised to bridge the old and new developments. The design maintains a two-story structure with a low-pitched roof to ensure scale consistency in the residential area and minimize overshadowing of neighbours. The building features a cohesive form with vertical brick and louvred blades identifying individual units, and a street-facing warmth achieved through natural timber. Judges noted the high quality of workmanship and thoughtful design utilising the site to its full potential.
