HIA Australian Apartment Complex

Rising 13 storeys on a 1,800sqm site, Trellis rethinks high-rise living through a distinctly subtropical lens. Defined by expressed balconies and a structural exoskeleton that forms a crown against the skyline, the building draws on the traditional Queenslander, replacing the typical podium car park with an ‘inverted podium’. In its place sits a 10-metre-high, naturally ventilated garden lobby that opens directly to the street, allowing landscape and airflow to shape the arrival experience. Across 110 apartments, cross-ventilation, automated louvres and resident-controlled shading support passive comfort and give the façade a subtle sense of movement. Generous communal provision extends from ground to rooftop, including a 25-metre infinity pool, gym and shared entertaining spaces. Supported by a 100kW solar array, rainwater harvesting and advanced irrigation, the project pairs environmental performance with a strong focus on community and craft.
