The Station Hotel bar renovation revitalises a beloved 1950s landmark while preserving its historic character and enhancing flood resilience. Heritage elements, including pressed metal ceilings and recycled hardwood, were carefully retained, while new features were seamlessly integrated to respect the building's past. A curved brick bar with hand-crafted arches anchors the space, complemented by a 17-metre recycled hardwood bar top salvaged from St. Mary's School in Lismore. Flood-resilient materials such as solid concrete blocks, tiles, stainless steel, and repurposed railway sleepers ensure durability. Traditional rendering, mosaic tiling, and custom timber windows further reinforce the classic aesthetic. Undertaken within a tight timeline and while parts of the venue remained operational, the project required precision planning and innovative service integration to preserve original finishes. The result is a functional, enduring, and visually striking space that celebrates the hotel's history while meeting modern hospitality needs.
