HIA-CSR Northern Territory Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards

Winner: M+J Builders

The project undertaken by M+J Builders for constructing seven houses for high dependency occupants stands out for its commitment to surpassing accessibility standards while also achieving high energy efficiency ratings.

The project aimed not only to meet but to exceed the requirements set forth by the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and the National Construction Code (NCC), as well as the Specialist Disability Requirements. Close collaboration with building certifiers and independent specialists ensured that every aspect of the design and construction adhered to these standards.

The meticulous care required for the occupants has been well catered for, with features such as hoist trimmers, adjustable benchtops, and swimming pools with disabled access seamlessly integrated into the design. The thorough attention to the occupants' needs reflects a commitment to creating environments that enhance their quality of life.
