Young Achiever / Trailblazer

HIA Tasmania Building Women Awards

Winner: Melanie Ransley - St Joseph Affordable Homes

Mel is a true trailblazer and a driving force behind the Build Up Tassie program. As the Head Coach, her mission is clear: to empower young job seekers to step into the construction industry, particularly through apprenticeships and traineeships. Mel wears multiple hats, from coaching and supporting aspiring individuals to coordinating the pre-employment program. She supervises the Build Up Tassie coaches and actively develops essential materials and resources for program delivery. Mel is not just about coaching; she's a connector, forging relationships with construction industry partners to create meaningful work opportunities. Mel's journey is a testament to resilience and a refusal to be defined by others' opinions. She knew she would be an exceptional carpenter, foreman, and teacher, and she proved it. Her message to all is simple but powerful: "You're the only person that knows what you're truly capable of, and you shouldn't let anyone tell you otherwise."
