Heritage Renovation

An extensive project that included the renovation and conversion of a circa 1910 two storey stone building into two apartments and the addition of a third apartment in the rear of the property. The scope involved removal of the verandah and restoration of the stone façade adding in a new timber front door with concrete base wall and steps with brass fence and steel plate balustrades creating a contemporary entry and street front addition. The interior renovation included creating a single bedroom basement apartment and a two-level bedroom apartment for short term accommodation. The new apartment at the rear was designed to maintain connection with the old building which has been completed successfully. The existing fabric has respectfully been preserved and displayed throughout, with the modern conveniences gently inserted as an overlay, almost placed in the rooms like pieces of furniture. The level of care and attention shown to the history of the site is exemplary, no effort has been spared to bring this project to fruition.
