This renovation involved modernising a historic home and adding an extension that would complement the existing character of the house. The extension features a vaulted ceiling, polished floors, and a spacious open-plan kitchen and living area that connects to an outdoor deck, enhancing both site utilisation and privacy. Inside, the design strikes a balance between eclectic style and functionality. Main spaces benefit from abundant natural light due to efficient passive solar design. A structural portal frame in the extension adds to the spacious feel and contrasts with the moodier sections of the house. Challenges included realigning the roof structure, updating utilities, and optimising space on a small site. The old kitchen was repurposed as a new bathroom, and a modern kitchen was added to the extension. The result is a stylish, functional home that maintains its historic charm.
