Bathroom of the Year

HIA Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards

Winner: GIA Bathrooms & Kitchens

This home in Caulfield North has a large, round brass handle on its front door, and that inspired the centerpiece of this ensuite: a 1600mm round, steel-framed window in what was previously a solid wall. The clear glass introduces ample natural light and has transformed the space. To ensure privacy, a large motorized blind has been recessed into the ceiling, and the toilet and shower are in separate zones surrounded by fluted floor to ceiling glass. Balanced and soft fittings and finishes were selected to be the perfect complement to the feature round window in this ensuite. Venetian plaster has been used to eliminate grout lines and tiling edges around the window, and the floor tiles and brass fittings complete the look. A range of challenges have been overcome in the design and construction of this space, to deliver a finished product that classically stylish. Excellent workmanship and attention to detail is the icing on the cake.
