Where will the HIA 2022 National Conference take place?

The HIA 2022 National Conference will be on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

Majority of the events will take place at the Gold Coast Convention Centre and The Star Gold Coast.

What is the registration fee for the HIA 2022 National Conference?

The regular registration fee is $1,320 per person but take advantage of our Early Bird offer of $1,100 per person.

Does the registration fee include airfares and hotel accommodation?

No. You will need to book your accommodation and airfares separately. We have negotiated a special accommodation rate for HIA conference delegates at The Star Gold Coast and all major airlines are offering flights to the Gold Coast for travel in April 2022. What is the dress code?

Most events at the HIA 2022 National conference have a smart/casual dress code.  The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards dress code is cocktail.

What is the cancellation policy?

COVID-19 cancellation information

The holding of the Conference or the number of persons permitted to be in or around the venues for the Conference may also be affected by Public Health Directions, resulting in the HIA being required to or deciding to:

  1. cancel or postpone all or part of the Conference; or
  2. reduce the number of persons who may attend all or part of the Conference ; and/or
  3. change arrangements for the delivery of the Conference, including by arranging for delivery via digital or hybrid format.

If HIA cancels the Conference due to COVID 19-related circumstances, HIA will offer at the delegate’s option:

  • a full refund of paid registration fees; or 
  • a transfer of all paid registration fees to HIA’s 2023 National Conference or a similar HIA event.

HIA will also accept cancellation requests and offer refunds/ or allow the delegate to change registration type to a virtual attendee (viewing certain elements of the conference and Australian Housing Awards via live stream URL) if:

  • a government or health authority imposes any restrictions on travel to the Gold Coast area or imposes a requirement to quarantine; or
  • you or a close household contract is diagnosed with COVID-19. 

HIA will not however refund Conference passes to delegates who are refused entry for not complying with a vaccination requirement or any other COVID-19 attendance requirements.

Other Cancellations

If you can no longer attend the Conference for any other reason including personal reasons or you change your mind, you may cancel your registration by providing written notice in an email to conference@hia.com.au.  HIA’s refund policy is as follows:

  • Cancellations made in writing received before 1 March 2022 will receive refund of registration fee less a 10% administration fee.
  • Cancellation made in writing received between 1 March 2022 and 31 March 2022 receive 50% refund of registration fee.

Cancellation made after 1 April 2022 will not be entitled to any refund if the reason is change of mind.

Can I bring my children to the conference?

You are welcome to bring children to the Welcome Function and the Networking Party however all children will remain the responsibility of their parents or guardian. There will be a small cost of $55 per child aged 12-17. Under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 able to attend the Business Sessions, Workshops or the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.

Can I purchase a ticket to attend the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards?

We are only taking expressions of interest in Awards only tickets at this stage. Please email your interest to conference@hia.com.au and we will inform you closer to the date if we can accommodate those who only wish to attend the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.

What will the weather be like in Gold Coast in April?

With a temperature range of 17 – 26 degrees Celsius, April on the Gold Coast is one of the best months to visit and promises tranquil beauty. You can expect clear blue skies with the occasional day of rain, but these are few and far in between. In April on the Gold Coast, sunshine is 11 hours long. Sunrise is normally around 6.00am and sunsets around 5.30pm. This brings beautifully warm days with abundant of sunshine and cooler evenings. In April, the ocean is surprisingly warm, at 25 degrees celsius. 

Can I arrive on the Gold Coast before the conference or stay after?

Absolutely. Subject to room availability at The Star or your hotel of choice. HIA will not be holding a room block at The Star Gold Coast outside of the conference dates.

Can I earn CPD Points?
{{ propApi.expandedIcon }} {{ propApi.collapsedIcon }}

For those members who need to accrue CPD points, the HIA National Conference earns 2 points. You must sign the CPD register upon arrival at the Business Building Sessions for the points to be validated.
