Where will the HIA 2024 National Conference take place?

The HIA 2024 National Conference will be in Cairns, Queensland.

The majority of the events will take place at the Cairns Convention Centre.

 
What is the registration fee for the HIA 2024 National Conference?

The regular registration fee is $1870 per person but take advantage of our Super Early Bird offer of $1395 up until 31 January 2024 and our Early Bird Offer of $1650 per person until 31 March 2024.

How do I register?

It is easy to register for the 2024 HIA National Conference. We have a range of conference packages to suit your needs.

Does the registration fee include airfares and hotel accommodation?

No. You will need to book your accommodation and airfares separately. 

We have negotiated a special accommodation rate for HIA conference delegates at Crystalbrook Collection Hotels and all major airlines are offering flights to Cairns for travel in May 2024. Visit the accommodation page for further details.

What is the dress code?

Most events at the HIA 2024 National Conference have a smart/casual dress code.  The HIA Australian Housing Awards dress code is cocktail.
What is the cancellation policy?

If you can no longer attend the conference for any other reason (including personal reasons or change of mind), you may cancel your registration by providing written notice in an email to conference@hia.com.au.  HIA’s refund policy is as follows:

  • Cancellations made in writing received before 31 March 2024 will receive refund of registration fee less a 10% administration fee
  • Cancellation made in writing received between 1 April and 30 April 2024 receive 50% refund of registration fee.

Cancellations made after 1 May 2024 will not be entitled to any refund if the reason is change of mind.

Can I bring my children to the conference?

You are welcome to bring children to the Welcome Party and the Networking Party however all children will remain the responsibility of their parents or guardian. There will be a small cost of $55 per child aged 12-17. Under no circumstances are children under the age of 18 able to attend the HIA Business Sessions, Workshops or the HIA Australian Housing Awards.
Can I purchase a ticket to attend the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards?

Awards-only tickets are not available at this stage. Should there be capacity to accommodate Awards-only tickets, please contact us after 1 April 2024.

What will the weather be like in Cairns in May?

The last month of autumn, May is a warm month in Cairns with an average temperature fluctuating between 20°C and 27°C .

Sunshine is around seven hours long. Sunrise is normally around 6.30am and the sun sets around 5.50pm. This brings beautifully warm days with abundant sunshine and cooler evenings.  

The average sea temperature is 27°C, decreasing throughout the month of May.

 
Can I arrive in Cairns before the conference or stay after?

Absolutely. Subject to room availability at one of the Crystalbrook properties or your hotel of choice.
Can I earn CPD points?
{{ propApi.expandedIcon }} {{ propApi.collapsedIcon }}
For those members who need to accrue CPD points, the HIA National Conference earns 5 points. You must sign the CPD register upon arrival at the Business Building Sessions for the points to be validated.
