Brought to you by Cairns Hardware

Join us at our HIA Cairns Building Women Luncheon partnered by Cairns Hardware aimed at women involved in or associated with the construction industry, including builders, suppliers, tradeswomen, interior designers, and subcontractors. This event offers a unique opportunity for women to connect, whether they work directly in construction or own a residential or commercial business. It is designed to support and celebrate the contributions of women currently in the industry, while also encouraging more women to join. The event serves as a platform to elevate the profile of women in construction and promote excellence within the field.

Amy Eden

Mayor, Cairns City Council

Amy is on a mission to shape a brighter, better future for the people of Cairns.

With a diverse background dedicated to serving her community, she brings a wealth of experience as a social practitioner and program director, having worked with some of the region's most impactful public sector and NGO organisations.

Throughout her career, she has championed opportunities for local youth, families, individuals facing mental health challenges, and Indigenous communities.

Bronte Skaines

Studio Manager of Studio K Interior Design, co-owner of Koru Furniture & Homewares and Koru Building Contractors

Wearing more hats than Alexander McQueen has designed, Bronte is wired for cataloguing ideas, materials, products and special pieces with encyclopaedic precision, complimented by her wizard-like sourcing skills.

She is a true enthusiast of materials that are slow-made and derived from the earth - think stone, ceramics and natural fibres - often channelling her love for strong, deep colours like olive green, ochre, burgundy, and black throughout her award-winning designs. Having spent 2.5 adventurous years living in London, Bronte travelled extensively across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, gaining inspiration from the rich cultures and diverse landscapes she experienced.

A 10 year stint in New Zealand introduced her to Kiwi-ingenuity and she learned the art of creative problem-solving. Project managing small to medium projects for Koru Building Contractors is a role that she has found herself diving into more and more as her adult children have flown the coop and she was responsible for both the interior design and design management for Ombra, Koru Building Contractor’s award-winning display home.
