Event detail

Introducing Built Different by HIA; a platform designed to support and inspire those emerging through their building trades and careers.

Built Different is for those looking for their next step in the building industry. It's where you can find like-minded individuals - people who are passionate about their building trade or career, who want to do better, think bigger, and be part of the future of this industry; people who are Built Different.

These events give you the opportunity to learn, connect, and share with each other, have a laugh, and meet people outside of your regular workplace.

Over drinks and canapés, hear from three industry professionals that have 'been there and done that' as they share their journeys through the industry, and what they hope the future will look like.

If you’re passionate about growing yourself, and the future of our industry, join us at this exclusive Built Different launch event.

Speakers

Emma Haines

Land and Developer Partnership Manager, ABN Group

Emma has been involved in the world of land sales since 2013, starting her career at Satterley Property Group as a casual sales host for extra income. After discovering an instant passion for the industry, she progressed into a Sales Associate role, an opportunity to work on a variety land projects under several great mentors. It wasn’t long before Emma was promoted to Sales Professional and was transferred onto the top selling project, Heron Park. In 2018, Emma was made Sales Operations Manager and was responsible for overseeing the coordination of the sales and release function of the business. The role and responsibility evolved over time, giving her exposure and to the responsibility of board reporting and representation, assisting with feasibility and strategic planning of new projects and developing and executing sales and retail partnership strategies. In 2020 Emma made the shift from land development to construction, joining the ABN Group.  Emma now oversees the Land and Developer Partnering portfolio for the ABN Group and the Home Collective sales function across Perth and the South West.

Jordan Dorotich

Strategy and Analytics Manager, BGC Housing Group

Jordan entered the construction industry in 2018 as a Sales and Admin Coordinator for BGC Residential, handling sales commissions and administrative functions. Prior to covid and the introduction of the government stimulus packages in early 2020, Jordan stepped into a new role within BGC Residential as a Business Analyst which offered him the opportunity to amass a great deal of experience and knowledge. This led to his appointment as the Assistant Operations Manager of BGC Housing Group in 2021 and to his current role in 2022 as the company’s Strategy and Analytics Manager.

Matt Bothe

Director, Five Homes

Since coming from country WA and then boarding school in Perth, Matt has been involved with the building industry for the past 20 years. Starting with a pre apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery and working his way through to having his own company FIVE HOMES, Matt has seen the ever-changing landscape of our industry. Being a hands-on type of guy, he loves to be heavily involved with any build he is a part of. Sport has been a big part of Matt’s life, which has helped shape his leadership skills and bring them into his workplace. In 2019 Matt was a contestant on the renovation show The Block. Since returning Matt has completed his Diploma in Building and Construction with the HIA and is now on route to becoming a Building Contractor basing his work around renovations. Time away from building Matt is an ambassador for the youth mental health charity Zero2Hero in which he has trekked the cape 2 cape to raise vital funds for mental health. You can also hear Matt on 6PR on the weekends discussing all things building and renovating.
