In 2023, the construction industry topped the list for restructuring appointments. Since its 2021 launch, this industry has seen over 450 restructuring appointments in the past year. Join experts from Vincents Restructuring & Recovery as they delve into the mechanics of Small Business Restructuring to aid businesses facing financial difficulties. This session will cover the restructuring process, eligibility requirements, and the crucial role of early intervention, supported by real-life case studies from the construction sector.

Understanding IR Reforms and Their Impact on Small Businesses

Over the past 18 months, significant changes have been made to the industrial relations system by the Federal Government. Learn about these changes and how they will affect your employees and contractors at the April 2024 HIA Virtual Trade Night. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Changes to penalties, including the new offence of wage theft.
  • The impact of reforms on independent contracting, including the revised definition of employment and the Fair Work Commission’s new role in resolving disputes over unfair contract terms.
  • The expanded role and powers of unions.
  • Revisions to casual employment arrangements.
  • The new right to disconnect from work.
  • Updated obligations to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, including a new positive duty to eliminate sexual harassment and a prohibition on conduct that could create a hostile work environment.
  • Amendments to the National Employment Standards, now including 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave and superannuation.
