Fire Rescue Victoria's Role in the Built Environment
At this meeting, presenters Mark Carter (Acting Assistant Chief Fire Officer); and Brad Trewavis (Commander) from the Built Environment Department of Fire Rescue Victoria will be discussing the following key topics:
- Electric vehicles, lithium-Ion batteries and fire safety in Class 1a and 2 buildings: cars, bikes and scooters, battery energy storage systems, and what guidance and considerations should be made in design, risk assessment, storage and disposal.
- A look back at significant fires that have changed the rules and expectations on what good design in fire safety looks like.
- Examination of how combustible facade fires have highlighted safety concerns for the design and build process, material selection, occupancy and maintenance, and the increased scrutiny being applied to architects, builders, fire engineers, certifiers and building surveyors.
