This meeting of the HIA South East Metro Branch, hosted by CSIRO, will be taking a close look at electric vehicles and charging infrastructure in residential building, particularly apartments.
Dr Sam Behrens of CSIRO will discuss current and future charging equipment for EVs, including V2X, electrical considerations for charging infrastructure, challenges related to EV electrical loads, and strategies for managing EV loads within a building. Dr Behrens will also briefly discuss battery safety, and the perceived risk profile of fast charging vs trickle charging.
CSIRO’s Scott McGarry will investigate the safety issues raised by EVs in buildings. And Melinda Dewsnap from the City of Sydney will discuss the opportunities and barriers to electrification and EV charging retrofits for Australian apartment buildings. She will present on how Sydney is tackling this issue and why we all need to collaborate to get the best outcomes for people and planet.
This will be a hybrid event, featuring presenters from around the country, that can be attended in person at the CSIRO Clayton campus or can be joined online via Microsoft Teams.
