As 2024 begins, two issues loom large in the kitchen and bathroom space: the prohibition on engineered stone, and tightening requirements around wet area waterproofing.
At this breakfast workshop, HIA and industry experts will break down what K&B specialists, builders and suppliers need to know about these important topics.
Transitioning away from engineered stone
State and Federal Governments recently announced a prohibition on the use of all engineered stone from 1 July 2024, regardless of crystalline silica content, to protect the health and safety of workers. A lot of questions remain for industry though.
In this session you’ll get timely advice on entering into contracts including engineered stone ahead of the ban, which substitute products are likely to remain available, how in-situ engineered stone will need to be handled and more.
Waterproofing: common mistakes and NCC 2022 requirements
Despite having been in the spotlight for some time, waterproofing of wet areas remains a major issue – indeed, waterproofing complaints continue to make up a significant proportion of defects identified by regulators and during disputes.
At this workshop, HIA’s building services team will discuss the wet area waterproofing requirements included in NCC 2022, some of the common waterproofing mistakes made on site, and how to avoid them.
All tickets to this workshop include plated breakfast and networking.
