Speakers

Tim Reardon

Chief Economist, HIA

Tim Reardon is the Chief Economist at the Housing Industry Association. He has an extensive background in economics and industry policy. Tim Reardon joined HIA in 2004 as the Executive Director of Government Relations working on the Housing Affordability Summit in the lead up to the federal election.

Tim then took on the role of Executive Director in Tasmania until 2007. During this time a builders licensing regime was introduced including reforms to home owners warranty and HIA warded off an increase in energy efficiency standards in new homes. After leaving HIA, Tim then represented the automotive manufacturers during the industry review of 2008 gaining $4.8 billion in industry assistance.

He represented the electricity generators through the introduction and repeal of the carbon price in 2012 and also worked as a consultant for a number of other industry groups and companies on federal policy matters. Tim then returned to HIA as head of the economics team in 2017.

Craig Wilson

Partnerships Manager, Aurora Energy

Craig Wilson began his electrical and power engineering career with the Department of Defence, before returning to Tasmania to work for the state-owned energy provider with roles spanning Generation, Extra High Voltage transmission and distribution maintenance, electrical design, telecommunications, construction project management and large customer connection management. Craig is also a director of his own Project Management and Electrical Contracting consultancy which has worked with clients across the state to provide solutions for power quality and energy efficiency.

He also has senior commercial and business development management experience with port logistics, mining, minerals, fuel, forestry, and the Antarctic.

Craig is Aurora Energy’s Partnerships Manager primarily focusing on the small medium business customer experience and is working with the HIA this year on a number of initiatives to help make energy EASY for housing industry businesses. Aurora Energy is committed to doing this through education, innovation, community support, great local service, and competitive products and plans.
