Significant changes are coming to Domestic Building Insurance in Victoria. A new Statutory Insurance Scheme will commence in mid-2026 which will alter the way that builders are assessed for DBI. Builders’ revenue, assets, debt ratings and more are likely to be examined to determine DBI eligibility, and annual financial statements signed off on or audited by accountants are likely to be required.
At HIA’s August virtual trade night, we’ll get you up to speed on what you can expect from this new scheme. We’ll also look at how Queensland builders have been affected by a very similar scheme in their state, and provide advice on what you can do now to prepare your business ahead of the changes.
Attendees will also get an update on local economic conditions and regulatory issues from HIA’s policy experts.
