Her passion started young, tagging along with her dad on job sites. She went on to found Building Suncoast Green, earning a strong rep for sustainable design and ethical business. Known for her leadership and commitment to the industry, Debbie focuses on delivering smart, high-quality homes that truly work for the people living in them.

About Ian Hazan

 

HIA National President Ian Hazan is the founder of i2 Homes, which he kicked off in 2005 after working with Krongold and Metricon. With 23 years in the industry and an engineering degree from Monash, Ian’s known as a hands-on builder who blends smarts with experience. He’s all about solving problems on the fly and managing boutique builds from start to finish with care. His mix of engineering know-how and practical skill keeps quality and results front and centre.

Dean Backman runs Backman Builders in Melbourne, specialising in sustainable builds and Passivhaus-certified homes. With 12+ years in the game and a family history of builders, Dean’s all about quality craftsmanship and 10-star energy ratings. He works alongside his brother Darryn and brings a family-first vibe to the business. Dean also co-hosts the Build Insite podcast, sharing tips on high-performance homes and pushing the building industry toward a greener future.
