At the Building Ministers Forum meeting on 18 July, Ministers agreed to the development of enhanced energy efficiency provisions for residential buildings for NCC 2022, informed by the COAG Energy Council’s trajectory for low energy buildings.
The ABCB will shortly release a scoping paper for public consultation on options for implementing these provisions in the NCC.
The release of this scoping paper will be the first step in the process of likely NCC 2022 energy efficiency stringency increases. This process will involve the scoping paper, followed by the development of a Regulation Impact Statement and proposed NCC changes including in the NCC 2022 public comment draft for potential NCC 2022 adoption and possible transitional arrangements.
