2019 HIA Australian Display Home

Winner: Better Building Services, DNA Architects and Sugar Designs, ACT and Southern NSW

The 2019 HIA Australian Display Home was awarded to ACT companies Better Building ServicesDNA Architects and Sugar Designs for their modern display home that offers consumers with a broad range of additional inclusions.

The companies were revealed as winners of the award in front of hundreds of residential building professionals from across the country at the prestigious HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards ceremony in Perth on 25 May.

This winning residence experiments with colour, design and layout to show home buyers how much more can be done with a traditional display home. With smart lighting, a smart sound system, under tile heating in the bathrooms, and a state-of-the-art solar system, the home is full of gadgets, exhibiting the latest design solutions. Making an immediate and lasting impact with its cantilevered roof and bold, dark colours, the home also boasts a northern aspect, living areas on each of the three levels, and 180-degree mountain views.

The display home award is presented to an individual house currently on display to the public and intended for reproduction as displayed or with standard variations. The houses must be open for display within a 24-month period prior to the time of close of entries and judging.

The HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers, with awards in 22 separate categories.

ACT and Southern NSW won three national housing awards in total, including the Display Home, Bathroom Design and Business Partner categories.
