Housing Australia's Future
The Housing Australia’s Future report focuses on the critical issue of accurately forecasting population growth and the resulting demand for housing. A key contributor to the housing shortage has been the consistent underestimation by all tiers of government regarding future demand for new homes.
Over the last two decades, the acute shortage of rental accommodation stems from a persistent imbalance between population growth and the slow rate of new housing stock development. This imbalance has led to a significant acceleration in rental prices.
The primary objective of this report is to assist policymakers in estimating demand for new homes.
