The newly released hardback, The New Modernist House: Mid-century Homes Renewed for Contemporary Living, published by Thames & Hudson, showcases 21 Australian homes sympathetically renovated by creative builders, designers and architects.
Writer Patricia Callan is the founder of Modernist Australia, an online archive of local mid-century architecture. She has appeared on ABC radio, The Design Files website and Fairfax publications to champion modernist architecture from a layperson’s perspective.
In a society that sees so many incredible buildings being demolished, Patricia’s easy storytelling walks us through the history of this design in Australia, discussing the practicalities and conundrums of these revitalised homes.
The new release of HIA’s Learning on Demand online courses is not to be missed. It’s all about the National Construction Code (NCC) 2022 changes, with advice from HIA Chief Executive – Policy & Industry, Simon Croft.
This online course discusses the substantial changes to the energy-efficiency and condensation provisions. It also looks at houses and apartments that now need to meet a 7-star rating and Whole of Home energy-efficiency requirements (in specific states).
This three-hour pre-recorded course consists of six embedded videos, followed by self-marking questions. Earn three CPD points in NSW and purchase at an exclusive HIA Member cost of $99. When finished, you’ll receive an electronic Statement of Completion, and as a HIA Member, your CPD points will be uploaded to your online My CPD diary.
