We also welcomed the announcement of an audit into the Housing Australia Future Fund. Oversight is essential, but it must not delay the fund’s purpose: to build 55,000 new social and affordable homes. Every delay means more Australians waiting for a place to live. The audit should be used to improve processes, not to pause progress.
Meanwhile, the expansion of the Home Guarantee Scheme has opened doors for more first-home buyers. With no income caps and no place limits, more Australians will finally be able to enter the market – a tangible example of policy making a difference on the ground.
Across all these developments runs a single theme: we must move from planning to doing. Whether it’s cutting red, white and green tape, supporting Australian building product manufacturers, or speeding up approvals, the message is the same – builders are ready to deliver.
Our industry doesn’t need more talk; it needs clear decisions and consistent rules. If governments and industry keep pulling in the same direction, we can turn Australia’s housing crisis into an opportunity for real, lasting reform.
As 2026 approaches, we wish you a safe and happy festive season.
