Cosentino’s latest stone surfacing product, engineered especially for the Australian market, takes the trifecta: it’s stylish, safe and sustainable.

Gabrielle Chariton

Content Writer

In July last year, Australia became the first country in the world to implement a ban on the supply, manufacture and installation of engineered stone products containing 1% or more crystalline silica. This represents a huge step forward in improving site safety and protecting the health and wellbeing of HIA members who work with these products.

However, with its sleek good looks, versatility and proven durability, engineered stone has been a must-have inclusion in Australia’s kitchens and bathrooms for decades. Since the ban, builders, designers and homeowners have had to look to alternative surfacing products – many of which don’t offer the same aesthetic value, durability or cost effectiveness.

But that’s all set to change with the launch of Xeron, Cosentino’s newest stone surface with a zero crystalline silica* formulation. Developed in direct response to Australia’s market requirements, Xeron heralds a whole new era in engineered surfacing technology, allowing you to give your clients the look and finish they want while keeping your worksites safe and compliant.

Cosentino’s Xeron range is an alternative surfacing product.

Style without compromise

This exciting new portfolio is offered in 10 refined colourways across two product lines – Xeron Premium and Xeron Elemental – to offer endless design possibilities for all interior applications, from kitchen benchtops to bathroom tiling. It can even be specified for bespoke furniture.

Crucially, this high-tech offering from Cosentino is as resilient and robust as the company’s older generations of engineered stone. It’s highly resistant to stains, scratches or impacts. Its low porosity prevents liquids from penetrating inside, making it a low-maintenance, hard-wearing option, backed by a 10-year guarantee for absolute peace of mind.

Cosentino is also a global leader in sustainable manufacturing processes, and Xeron’s performance and eco-credentials are underpinned by the company’s advanced HybriQ+ technology. Manufactured in Spain from 88% recycled glass, using 100% renewable electric energy and 99% recycled water, Xeron showcases intentional sustainability from top to bottom, meaning you can specify it with confidence.

Timeless beauty

Designed to elevate a wide range of interior design styles, from contemporary to classic, the Xeron® Premium range includes four neutral shades of white, beige and grey, infused with nuanced river-like veins. Cascade Gold and Aurum White both feature a neutral base with delicate marble-like veining with flashes of gold. Artico Grey and Silken Frost have more muted visual texture, delivering elegant simplicity for neutral, warm and modern spaces. All Xeron Premium colours are available in polished or suede finishes.

The six colourways in the Xeron Elemental line showcase an organic, tactile appeal, with subtle veins, grainy textures and solid tones. Both accessible and sophisticated, these nature-inspired finishes allow designers to effortlessly create spaces with an inviting, luxurious ambience.

The Elemental palette includes:

  • Sunburst and Pearl River, which both feature whisper-soft veins on a neutral background
  • Moonlit Shade – a crisp, versatile white
  • Silver Cloud – a luminous pale grey with subtle white watermark veining
  • Evergrey – a deep, glossy grey perfect for industrial and rustic style environments
  • Misty Silver – a contemporary shade of silver-grey with a barely-there grain pattern.
  • The Xeron Elemental colours are all available in a polished finish.

Both the Premium and Elemental product lines are sold in jumbo-sized slabs (325x159cm, 20mm thick) allowing you to create a streamlined, high-end finish with minimal joins in kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces.
