BCM Homes wins 2023 HIA-CSR Victorian Home of the Year award

Media release
BCM Homes from Ballarat has won the prestigious 2023 HIA-CSR Victorian Home of the Year award held at Crown Palladium on Friday 10 November.

BCM Homes from Ballarat has won the prestigious 2023 HIA-CSR Victorian Home of the Year award for a stunning custom built home overlooking the beach at Separation Creek.

The result was announced at the 2023 HIA-CSR Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards, held at Crown Palladium on Friday 10 November, which was attended by over 1,000 people.

This home has been designed and built with an overarching philosophy of balancing aesthetic and environmental response, and is essentially moulded into the steep slope of its block. The inspired design by Crosier Scott Architects preserves and celebrates the site’s breathtaking views.

“HIA congratulates everyone at BCM Homes on this well-deserved award,” says HIA Victoria Executive Director Keith Ryan.  “They have completed a home of absolutely outstanding quality, and in the process, have demonstrated great skill in overcoming a wide range of technical, practical and logistical challenges.”

Expansive glazing and frameless glass balustrades ensure the stunning views are maximised.  BCM Homes has displayed care, attention to detail and an uncompromising focus on quality at every turn in the completion of this home.

The nature of the remote, sloping site and the complexity of the build meant this project came with an extreme degree of difficulty, and the BCM Homes team has demonstrated significant expertise in successfully navigating those challenges.

In addition to the 2023 HIA-CSR Victorian Home of the Year, this project also won BCM Homes the Custom Built Home of the Year and Custom Built Home $3 million - $4 million awards.

Other winners on Friday night included:

  • Carlisle Homes were named Professional Major Builder of the Year
  • Latitude 37 received the Professional Medium Builder/Renovator award
  • Elite Building Services were winners of the Professional Small Builder/Renovator award
  • Englehart Homes won Display Home of the Year for its La Maison display in Balwyn North
  • Samssons Projects won the Apartment of the Year award for a Melbourne penthouse renovation
  • Beaumont Building Design’s entry in Cape Paterson won the GreenSmart Sustainable Home award
  • Albury-based B&H Homes claimed Project Home of the Year honours with a build in Jindera
  • Scott James Builder, also based in Albury, received the Renovation/Addition Project of the Year award for a heritage restoration and addition in Wahgunyah
  • Beachstone Homes won Spec Home of the Year for a project in Mount Eliza
  • A Brighton East townhouse claimed Townhouse/Villa of the Year honours for MK Building Group
  • Wodonga-based LA Smith Studio won both the Kitchen of the Year and Kitchen Design awards
  • GIA Bathrooms & Kitchens received the Bathroom of the Year and Bathroom Design awards

“The HIA Awards are a showcase of the best of the best in the residential building industry, and of the absolutely outstanding quality of work completed by HIA members,” says HIA Victoria Executive Director Keith Ryan.  “The homes recognised in the 2023 HIA CSR Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards are exceptional, and HIA congratulates all of the winners and finalists.”

HIA thanks its awards partners CSR, Australian Gas Networks, Beacon Lighting, Bunnings Trade, Chocolate Money, Clipsal, Cosentino, Dahlsens, Design 10 by Hardings, Hafele, HIA Insurance Services, Isuzu, MadeCo, Metroll, Miele, Mitre 10 Trade, Origin Energy, Residentia Group, Rheem, Robam and Tradelink.
