An unassuming but expertly-crafted home in the heart of Albury has won Scott James Builder the prestigious 2024 HIA Tradelink Northern Victoria Home of the Year award.
The result was announced at the 2024 HIA Tradelink Northern Victoria Regional Housing Awards, held at the Sebel Yarrawonga on Friday 30 August. With this result, Scott James Builder has taken top honours at these awards for the third year running.
In selecting this project for 2024 HIA Tradelink Northern Victoria Home of the Year, the judges noted and applauded the home’s clean lines, appealing colour palette and textures, and the outstanding craftsmanship displayed by the builder and trades.
The home is perfectly matched to the client brief which prioritised socialising, low maintenance and low impact living. A fantastic sense of space has been achieved, despite being located on a modest site of less than 400 square metres. A north-facing courtyard brings light and a sense of connectedness to the space.
Examples of the builder’s expertise and attention to detail include the precisely laid herringbone oak flooring, the extensive integrated joinery and the generous application of veined marble.
“HIA congratulates the entire Scott James Builder team on their success,” says Keith Ryan, HIA Victoria Executive Director. “Winning Home of the Year for a third year running in a very strong field of entrants is an extraordinary achievement.”
In addition to 2024 HIA Northern Victoria Home of the Year, this project also won Scott James Builder the Custom Built Home of the Year and Custom Built Home $1 million - $1.5 million awards.
Many other outstanding builders were also recognised on the night. Mildura based Garraway Developments won eight awards in a range of categories, including Project Home of the Year, Bathroom of the Year, Specialised Housing and more. J&J Carroll Builders from Albury Wodonga won Display Home of the Year and two other awards.
Hadar Homes won five awards in total, including Spec Home of the Year and Townhouse/Villa of the Year. B&H Homes received four awards, including Renovation/Addition Project of the Year, and LA Smith Studio also won four awards, including Kitchen of the Year.
Also winning on the night were APC Build, Attwood Builders, Condely Construction, Evolv Homes, Lansell Homes, Metricon Homes, Ovens & King Builders, Southern Vale Homes and Superior Living Homes.
“The HIA Awards are a showcase of the best of the best in the residential building industry, and of the absolutely outstanding quality of work done by HIA members” says Mr Ryan. “The homes recognised in the 2024 HIA Tradelink Northern Victoria Regional Housing Awards are exceptional, and HIA congratulates all of the winners and finalists.”
HIA thanks its awards partners Tradelink, Australian Gas Networks and HIA Insurance Services. A full list of winners can be found below.
SafeWork NSW has granted an additional exemption to the prohibition on working with engineered stone. This exemption allows for the temporary removal and reinstallation of existing engineered stone to enable repair or modification work to the supporting cabinetry.
HIA is pleased to announce the recent appointments of National President, Mr Ian Hazan and National Vice President Mr David Morris.
“Australia cannot build 1.2 million new homes in five years while taxing the capital that is necessary to build those homes,” said HIA Chief Economist, Tim Reardon.
Employer returns for long service leave are due by 31 July each year.
