Stunning workmanship makes Zorzi Dalkeith home a winner

Media release
Nearly 300 of Western Australia’s best home builders, designers, manufacturers and suppliers, attended the 2024 HIA CSR Western Australian Housing Awards at the Westin Perth today.

The awards which also included the WA Kitchen and Bathroom Awards and celebrate the incredible variety of projects, quality of design and workmanship, as well as recognising the high calibre of business, service and delivery in the residential building industry throughout WA.

HIA-CSR WA Home of the Year was awarded to Perth custom home builder Zorzi for a luxurious home in Dalkeith that impressed the judges with a combination of complex design features, sophisticated materials and exceptional workmanship resulting in a beautifully executed family home.

HIA-Cosentino Kitchen of the Year was won by Calautti Homes and Cabinet Network for a beautifully elegant and functional kitchen that won the New Kitchen $40,000-$55,000 category. Featuring a bold pallet of dark painted brickwork and full height timber cabinetry with integrated appliances, the kitchen incorporates hidden sink area and pantry with wine storage.

Urbane Projects was awarded HIA-Cosentino Bathroom of the Year. This modestly priced bathroom won the New Bathroom up to $25,000 and is a perfect example of great design and product selection. The earthy pallet and organic curves mixed with twin round sinks and freestanding bath make this bathroom functional, inviting and incredibly well appointed for the price.

HIA WA Executive Director Michael McGowan said the range and quality of all entries in the awards was testament to the outstanding work being delivered by the industry throughout Western Australia.

“The builders, designers, tradespeople in this industry love delivering beautiful quality homes, and despite rising costs and trade shortages, they continue to innovate and excel in producing exceptional outcomes for their clients.”

“Zorzi’s Dalkeith home displayed the design and workmanship that we can be proud of.  From spacious master wing with private parent lounge, master bathroom overlooking the alfresco and pool, spacious kitchen with full height integrated cabinetry and expansive outdoor kitchen, pool and cabana area, the home perfectly balances contemporary style and family functional living.”

“Everywhere you look in this home is another impressive feature or complex construction detail that has been perfectly delivered,” said Mr McGowan.

The project also took out the Custom Built Home of the Year amongst an incredibly strong field including Home Group Great Southern for Marbelup, Warren Taylor Homes in Geraldton, and Tallwood Custom Built Homes’ Quindalup project.

Display homes play an important role in the new home market and Novus Homes was awarded the coveted Golden Key Display Home of the Year for ‘The Luxe’, a cleverly designed two storey home on a small corner lot in Ardross.

“The judges commented on the appealing design of the home with angles and textures that suited the corner site and ensured the small lot was fully utilised with space and liveability,” commented Mr McGowan.

Regional Home of the Year was won by Busselton’s Tallwood Custom Built Homes for their beautiful beachside Quindalup project. Tallwood was also awarded GreenSmart Sustainable Home of the Year for their ‘Eco Barnhouse’ in Witchcliffe, and Lightweight Housing of the Year for a timber framed and clad Dunsborough holiday Home.

Gnangara based modular builder Pique was awarded Modular and Prefabricated Housing of the Year and Innovation in Housing for an extensive renovation project in Mosman Park.

“The renovation and addition market continues to grow in the tight WA housing market, and in an excellent example of vision and reimagining, Caves Road Constructions took out Renovation / Addition Project of the Year for an inspired conversion of an old cheese factory in Cowaramup.”

Lux Interiors won Renovated Kitchen of the Year for a light filled kitchen in City Beach, while Renovated Bathroom of the Year went to Navigate Bathrooms for their Madeley project. Kitchen Design of the Year went to Humphrey Homes and Bathroom Design of the Year to Meritor Homes by WELINK.

“Importantly, the HIA Awards also recognise the importance of quality business process and management practices, and the delivery of the highest standards of customer service. Excellence in Service Awards were presented to Mondo Exclusive Homes (small builder); Novus Homes (medium builder); and Dale Alcock Homes South West (large builder). Excellence in Service for Kitchen and Bathrooms was awarded to The Maker Designer Kitchens.”

“Professional Small Builder / Renovator was awarded to Amerex Renovations; Professional Medium Builder / Renovator to Minniti Group; and Professional Major Builder to Summit Homes Group. And it was particularly exciting to award the Emerging Builder award to Lucas Patterson of Patterson Construction Company as well as Tingey Development Group for the Start-Up Business Award,” said Mr McGowan.

“All winners and finalists across the State have showcased their ability to deliver the highest quality of homes and service for their clients.
