New South Wales builders and designers made a powerful statement, claiming an impressive seven national awards—a testament to their versatility, innovation, and excellence across all areas of the industry.
Designer Living Homes won HIA Australian Outdoor Project for a stunning alfresco space that seamlessly links the main home to a sophisticated entertaining zone. With curved cantilevered steps, a full outdoor kitchen, private guest suite, in-ground spa and infrared sauna, the design delivers both style and functionality. This category is partnered by Toyota for Business.
Lexpol Group won HIA Australian Renovation/Addition Project for transforming a three-level brick home into a six-level waterfront showpiece. Built on a challenging site with a 45-metre fall, the project showcases innovative engineering and premium craftsmanship. The result is a striking residence featuring luxury inclusions and modern design. This category is partnered by COLORBOND® steel.
Binet Homes won HIA Australian Spec Home for a farmhouse-style home that blends modern elegance with rural grandeur. High, raked ceilings and wide hallways enhance its spacious feel, while outside, the expansive covered patio, pool and tennis court provide the perfect space for relaxation and entertainment in the ultimate idyllic setting. This category is partnered by Stratco.
Aztek Constructions won HIA Australian Specialised Housing for an off-grid farm stay retreat that showcases rugged charm and contemporary design. Featuring bold forms, warm interiors, and sweeping valley views that can be taken in from a wood-fired hot tub, this project offers a refined yet immersive country escape. This category is partnered by Merlin Garage Door Openers.
First time entrant Birdblack Design won both HIA Australian Kitchen Design and, with Aspire Constructions, HIA Australian Bathroom of the Year. Both entries were from a home inspired by the ocean that features soft curves and meticulous detailing along with a cohesive use of materials and clever balance of luxury and simplicity. These categories are partnered by Smeg Australia and Caroma respectively.
Better Built Homes won HIA Australian Professional Medium Builder/Renovator after a standout year that included moving into state-of-the-art premises, opening an expanded colour studio, and launching a partnering-for-purpose program. Now in their 14th year, the team continues to be guided by their core values of service, quality, improvement and consistency. This category is partnered by Companion Systems.
Queensland’s Sarah Waller Building won the highest residential building award bestowed each year, being named 2025 HIA-CSR Australian Home of the Year. Set across subtle cascading levels on a sprawling acreage, the contemporary, pavilion-style home blends bold architectural design and functional living.
Its striking aesthetic is defined by raw off-form concrete and black timber cladding, creating a dramatic yet refined façade. Inside, a sophisticated monochromatic palette enhances the transitions between each distinct zone. Every element has been thoughtfully considered, resulting in a home that is both luxurious and liveable.
HIA Managing Director Jocelyn Martin congratulated the 2025 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards winners and praised their remarkable achievements.
“Each year thousands of projects are entered into our Awards program. To be shortlisted as an Australian finalist is a huge achievement, but to be one of the 23 winners means you’re at the pinnacle of residential building.
"HIA Awards are our way of recognising the exceptional talent within our membership. We’re talking about members who not only build extraordinary homes, kitchens, and bathrooms but also run incredibly successful businesses. The winning projects redefine what's possible in terms of design and innovation, setting new standards for the industry."
Ms Martin also acknowledged the apprentices who are constantly striving to better themselves in their chosen fields. “The judges always have to make a tough decision from a strong field of finalists, and this year was no exception.
"Congratulations to all winners for their outstanding contribution to the industry," Ms Martin concluded.
The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 23 separate categories. The Awards are partnered by leading building products company CSR.
