The winning home by R&R Quality Homes and Commercial Constructions strikes a harmonious balance between traditional elegance and contemporary design. Existing brickwork, Cementil Barestone wall cladding, and Maxline and Dominion profile Colorbond cladding have been thoughtfully combined in a durable, low maintenance exterior that seamlessly transitions from existing to new.
Inside, a single-spine staircase, the striking focal point of the open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, was one of the many highlights noted by the judges. The owners now also enjoy ample natural light and seamless connectivity to three outdoor living spaces, including an outdoor kitchen and bar area.
“HIA congratulates everyone at R&R Quality Homes and Commercial Constructions on this award,” says HIA Victoria Executive Director Keith Ryan. “The judges described the R&R team’s workmanship and attention to detail as ‘exceptional’ and selected this home as the standout from an incredibly strong field of entrants.”
Garraway Developments from Mildura won seven awards on the night, including Custom Built Home of the Year, Bathroom of the Year, Outdoor Project and Specialised Housing.
Albury-based B&H Homes claimed five awards, including Display Home of the Year and Project Home of the Year. Southern Vale Homes from Wodonga won six awards, including two Display Home categories, Affordable Housing and Townhouse Development.
Excelcon were the winners of five awards, including Spec Home of the Year, and LA Smith Studio won four awards in the kitchen categories, including Kitchen of the Year.
Other winners on the night included Alatalo Bros, Goforth Building, Hadar Homes, JMB Modular Buildings, Ovens & King Builders, Scott James Builder, Sherridon Homes and Superior Living Homes.
“The HIA Awards showcase the best of the best in the residential building industry, and the outstanding quality of work being carried out by HIA members,” says Mr Ryan. “Many exceptional homes have been recognised in the 2025 HIA Northern Victoria Regional Housing Awards, and HIA congratulates all of the winners and finalists.”
