It was a pleasure to see our National committee members this month at the NSC. A good chance to catch up and see what issues each region is currently facing, but also catching up at a social level and networking. The majority of conversations at the NSC were around hot topics including Silicosis, NCC, land availability, Housing affordability and availability, changes in IR laws, Immigration and Training. Each committee enjoyed discussions on these and more with some robust conversations only highlighting the passion and importance of what is at stake.
Silicosis was such a delicate subject and without further guidance or information from governing sources, a decision on HIA's stance in this was not possible until this becomes available. HIA position statements will be reviewed at Regional Committee meetings and a recommendation will be made to National Policy Congress (NPC).

Migration and housing supply out of balance
“The Government has not balanced the goal of stable and reliable migration pathways with the removal of restrictions on new home building necessary to meet demand,” stated HIA Chief Economist, Tim Reardon.
