The ABCB have released a further update to the Livable Housing Standard.
The standard has been re-issued with a correction to Clause 1.1(4)(a) which reverts the clause to the original text for the length of a ramp. By providing clear parameters, this improves the operation of a concession provided in H8D2(2) of NCC Volume Two that removes the requirement to provide a step-free pathway to the dwelling in certain circumstances.
Clause 1.1(4)(a), “Where one or more ramps are used …” is now followed by “the aggregate length of ramping (excluding landings must not be more than – (i) …” which replaces “The interval between landings must not be more than – (i) … "
The amended Livable Housing Design Standard 2022 version V1.3 has a release date of 15 November. You can identify the correct version of the standard from the version history table at the front of the Standard. The change is limited to this clause in this Standard and all other documents that form part of NCC 2022 remain unchanged.
You can download the updated version of the Livable Housing Design Standard from the ABCB website.
HIA have produced a range of technical resources for members to assist with the application of the Livable Housing Standard. For more information please see:
