Revised version of Scaffold Standard AS 4576
It ensures scaffolding and scaffolding equipment is safely:
- selected
- supplied
- erected
- altered
- dismantled
- maintained
- inspected and used.
What’s contained in the AS 4576 update?
AS 4576 Guidelines for scaffolding is a companion to the AS/NZS 1576 series of scaffolding standards. The revised 2020 version of AS 4576 incorporates updates resulting from changes made to these scaffolding standards since 1995. Major changes include guidance on:
- working over water
- using bay extension (hop-up) platforms and tie bars
- the use of harnesses attached to scaffolding
- trestle ladder scaffolds
- tying of scaffolds and working platforms.
The section on training of scaffolders has been updated and no longer covers the certification of scaffolders as this has been replaced by High Risk Work Licences.
Requirements for suspended scaffolds has been removed (this is now covered in AS/NZS 1576.4). Guidance on mast climbing work platforms has also been removed (this is now in AS2550.16)
