How do I enter?

Simply complete the online form. Your entry is based on a written submission which addresses the judging criteria. It is important to address each criteria. A good submission also provides examples (where applicable).

Who can enter?

Any trade contractor or contracting business who is a financial member of HIA at the time of entry until the completion of the Awards program.

 

Judging criteria

Projects will be judged according to:

Criteria Points
Quality of workmanship 30
Degree of difficulty 25
Visual appeal 25
Innovation and flair 10
Design appearance and originality 10

 

Judging

Judging of entries will take place on-site from July to September. HIA staff will contact each entrant to provide a judging date and time. It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide details of the inspection time to the home owner.

Submission requirements

Projects will be judged on-site against the above criteria. Entrants must submit the following:

  • Stamped approved plans - Plans provided must reflect the finished building work. There should be no variations between submitted plans and the finished building work. The plans should be the approved plans stamped from the council or private building surveyor, including any amendments approved to those plans before or during construction.
  • Brief of scope works
  • List of materials - List and description of internal and external materials 1-2 pages, including manufacturer, colours and special features.
  • Project size - m2
  • Photographs - Minimum of ten (10) and maximum of fifteen (15) images must be uploaded. Please see photographic requirements page for further information. 

 

Presentation of winners

Winners will be announced at HIA Award nights from September to November 2024. Book your tickets with your local HIA office.
