With the 2025 federal election well underway, HIA is continuing to promote our solutions to the nation’s housing problems through the mainstream and social media. You can find out more about our campaign at the Let’s Build section of the website.
This year’s federal budget kicked off the campaign proper and it was fairly underwhelming with respect to housing. Since then, we have seen commitments from the Coalition if elected to review mortgage lending rules and the 3% serviceability buffer, and also for the creation of Investment Australia, a body aimed at removing excessive red tape and regulation. While this week, the ALP have committed to a $2.3 billion home batteries subsidy program.
Later this week, HIA will be hosting a local housing roundtable in the seat of Eden-Monaro to discuss challenges the residential construction sector is facing. Opposition Spokesperson for Home Ownership Senator Andrew Bragg will be the guest speaker, and it will be an opportunity for HIA members to talk about the issues concerning them. The roundtable will be in Queanbeyan on Friday, 11 April 2025, from 11.00am to 12.30pm.
We would love to see you there, please email us to register your attendance or call the office on 6285 7300 for more information.
