HIA can help your business implement sound workplace safety practices with its comprehensive package of safety systems, tools and advice.

How can HIA safety help you?

HIA can help your business implement sound workplace safety practices with its comprehensive package of safety systems, tools and advice.

As an independent safety practitioner, HIA can perform risk assessments of your workplace and practices and help your business implement the safety systems it needs.

HIA uses best-practice health and safety management systems

What makes a good health and safety management system? A useable, easy-to-implement set of tools that has everything you need. HIA can provide training at the implementation phase to help your business, workers and subcontractors apply safety practices in your workplace.

We offer the following:

  • safety management
  • site-specific safety
  • step-by-step implementation
  • Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) – this is required when carrying out high-risk construction work
  • safety system training in the practical implementation of the system for office, subcontractor management and site safety management. Included in this training are SWMS, safety policies, procedures, site rules, WHS or coordination plans, worker induction and a subcontractor communication/ consultation packs.
  • Access to tools such as:
  • a risk-assessment template
  • a pre-start site commencement checklist
  • an electrical ‘test and tag’ and hazardous chemicals register
  • site-specific induction forms.

Safety management systems for small to large businesses

HIA Safety is dedicated to helping small to medium-sized enterprises and large organisations with the many challenges they face when implementing safety management and safety systems.

Small business – Compact

We understand that small businesses have unique features that affect their approach to workplace health and safety and that these features need to be taken into account. We offer a range of tailored and cost-effective solutions to support these small businesses.

We also recognise that small organisations have budget limitations, so they need cost-effective and innovative solutions to make the most of their available resources. The work health and safety (WHS/OHS) hazards in small businesses are not necessarily low-risk hazards and you still have a legal responsibility to ensure these risks are managed.

Medium/large business – Comprehensive

Your business may already have established systems of work, policies, procedures, documentation and even dedicated staff to manage your safety compliance. However, there are still the challenges of managing this function internally.

HIA Safety can provide solutions that suit your requirements and budget, enabling you to focus on your core competencies and focus on your business objectives. Our services range from reviewing your current WHS/OHS management systems through to providing an outsourced full-service offer.

Site inspections and assessments

We’ll check in with you to make sure all is going well – and provide reassessments if required. We’ll find safe ways to perform tasks and ensure your safety systems are being implemented practically on-site by your site supervisors, workers and subcontractors. We’ll also provide feedback and reports identifying unsafe work practices and how to make improvements on them.

Included in our site inspection service:

  • We’ll provide benchmark safety systems to ensure safety compliance, identify compliance gaps, and reduce your business’ risk exposure
  • Checking of worker and subcontractor safety compliance
  • We’ll provide reports indicating non-compliance and recommendations on what can be done to achieve compliance.

HIA’s consultation services

We’ll come and meet with you to talk about your needs. Every client’s business is different, so why would we offer everybody the same service? You are in business to provide a product or service in a competitive world. Our approach is personal, professional, friendly and knowledgeable.

Whatever your trade, business size or type, we’ll work with you to manage your health and safety practices effectively.

We’ll provide practical training for your business, workers and subcontractors using cost-effective, easy-to-use and scalable solutions, and we’ll help you develop relevant and practical documentation.

We offer:

  • safety advice
  • sustainable safety management system solutions
  • business analyses to determine needs and gaps in safety compliance
  • system documentation in both hard and /soft copy as required.
