Pino Monaco is the director of GV Lawyers and represents builders, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers. Pino has previously served as National President of the Housing Industry Association, representing over 60,000 members Australia wide. Having such a broad and long involvement in the housing industry, Pino has a solid understanding of the issues facing our industry. Charity work and giving back to the community is an important part of his personal and professional life. Pino was on the National Board when the HIA Charitable Foundation was launched and has been an integral part of its continued development.
Alwyn started his formal working career in 1975 at Jason Windows and Jason Home Improvements, following a number of years working with his father (who was a sub contract bricklayer). At Jason Home Improvements he was a supervisor for the construction of single and double storey extensions and patios. In 1983, Alwyn joined Webb & Brown-Neaves as a sales consultant and in 1988 was appointed to position of Sales & Marketing Manager, and then to General Manager in 1992. He became a registered Builder in 1992. In 2011 Alwyn became the Quality & Compliance Director for ABN, a role that he held until his retirement in 2023. Alwyn has served on HIA committees, both regional and national, for nearly 30 years. In May 2013 Alwyn was elected to HIA’s National Board of Directors and in 2021 after two years as Vice President, became HIA’s National President. In 2023 he completed his term as President, and remains on HIA’s National Board and continues to serve on industry committees regionally and nationally.
Robert Griek has been in the building industry for the past 44 years, beginning his career as an apprentice tile layer in 1975. Seven years later he starter his first business in bathroom renovations and became a registered builder. The bathroom renovation business then grew to include waterproofing as a result The Cherob Group Pty Ltd was established. Robert is still the Managing Director of the The Cherob Group Pty Ltd, which under this directorship he managers C & D Waterproofing and Back to Basic Bathroom and Kitchens. Not long after joining HIA as a member in 1989 as a platform to form numerous networks in the industry he was asked to chair his first committee in 1991. This was the starting point of being involved in numerous HIA committees and State President of Victoria.
Ian began his career with HIA in 2005 when he joined the Victorian Training Committee, becoming Victorian President in 2013. Ian joined the National Board in 2017 and in 2023 became National Vice President of the Association.
Ian is a dynamic and results driven individual, motivated and dedicated to succeed at all that he does. He is passionate about the use of technology to improve business processes and incorporating social media and mobile platforms for communication and provision of services to customers and subcontractors.
Ian is Managing Director of i2 Homes residential home builders, involved in constructing new architectural homes and cover a plethora of renovations and apartment projects. Prior to starting his own business with i2Homes, Ian worked with Metricon Homes in a number of roles, helping to grow the business and re-engineering the overall Metricon Homes delivery process to improve operational efficiency, quality, time frames and customer service.
Sean Yeomans is Owner and Managing Director of Kitchens for Living, a Newcastle-based custom design joinery manufacturer. Sean has worked in the kitchen industry for over 25 years and started his own company 13 years ago. He is an HIA award-winning designer with a passion for seeing the building industry thrive through the growth of local suppliers servicing their community. Sean has served as a member of the HIA Hunter Regional executive committee and is the immediate past president for the Hunter region. Sean is passionate about ensuring the HIA supports its members through not only practical endeavours, but through returning goodwill to our local communities throughout Australia.
Jocelyn is the Managing Director of the Housing Industry Association. Since joining HIA in 2014, Jocelyn has also held the positions of Chief Executive Business Services and Chief Executive Operations. Creating workplaces and businesses which foster a culture of safety and wellbeing is an essential part of not only productivity but builds a sense of community and connection. In an industry as dynamic and challenging as construction, this can be difficult. For this reason, Jocelyn believes resources and support for mental and physical health for those in our sector are essential. Jocelyn Martin has had a lengthy career in education and business. She has been involved in a range of philanthropic and social enterprises. Together with her husband Bryan, Jocelyn is a director of her family-run wine business.
