The HIA Charitable Foundation (HIACF) was founded in 2012 to improve health and welfare outcomes for HIA members, their families and the wider community. Tackling mental health is a big part of our program.
HIACF has an 13 year history of stepping up to support causes that matter to the residential building industry. "We do this by providing financial donations to best-practice research organisations," says Pino Monaco, Chair of HIACF. The Foundation’s current beneficiaries include Beyond Blue and the Tradie Health Institute.

The HIA Charitable Foundation partners with Beyond Blue to support mental health across the residential building industry. For more than a decade, this partnership has helped raise over $1.3 million to fund mental health support services, research and education programs tailored to our industry.
Together, we’re working to reduce stigma, encourage early help-seeking and give builders and tradies the tools to support themselves and those around them. By putting mental health front and centre, this partnership is helping drive real change and potentially life-saving conversations across our industry.
This disease affects many people in our industry, and we’re proud to be able to contribute to this potentially life-saving medical research.Pino Monaco, Chair of HIA Charitable Foundation
The HIA Charitable Foundation supports the Tradie Health Institute, a world-leading research organisation focused on preventing and treating occupational lung diseases like silicosis. Through targeted funding, including grants to support ongoing research, we’re helping advance early detection, new treatments and better outcomes for tradies across Australia.
This work is critical in an industry where exposure to harm on the job is a real and growing risk. By backing cutting-edge medical research and collaboration across health, science and industry, we’re contributing to life-changing progress that protects the long-term health of our workforce.
HIA Charitable Foundation joined forces with TR Homes in Western Australia to build a stunning modular home for charity. TR Homes alongside a group of local suppliers generously donated their resources and time to make this project a reality. Proceeds from the sale will go to supporting our charities which include Beyond Blue and the Tradie Institute. See photos of the finished home and learn more about the story of this special initiative.
Funded by members, the HIA Charitable Foundation assists charitable and community causes by harnessing the support of the residential building industry.
