NSW Government - supporting apprentices and trainees

HIA has partnered with the Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) NSW on an apprentice project. The program will target around 185 apprentice employment outcomes from primarily social and community housing backgrounds, aboriginal, women, disabled and other disadvantaged groups.

The project will run for four years with a minimum completion of 100 participants. HIA Apprentices will provide significant employer incentives to reduce our standard charge out rate.

All apprentices and trainees will be provided with wrap-around services including:

  • Job Ready training
  • mentoring
  • tutoring
  • literacy and numeracy testing and help
  • financial progression incentives
  • free HIA membership
  • the opportunity to undertake additional free training with HIA upon completion of their apprenticeship or traineeship.

There are a range of apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities being offered across NSW through HIA.

  • Apprenticeships include a wide range of trades including:
    • carpentry
    • bricklaying
    • tiling
    • cabinet making
    • electrical
    • plumbing

and usually take round 3-4 years to complete.

  • Traineeships include a range of office based administrative positions and usually take around two years to complete.

Successful applicants will be placed with host employers focused on delivering new homes including social housing, with opportunities available in metro and regional areas.

Support for Hosts
