The 2019 HIA Australian GreenSmart Display/Project Home has been awarded to SJD Homes from Victoria.
This zero net carbon display home was designed to be adaptable to today’s housing market, easily replicated and affordable.
The sustainable home halves energy costs and cuts greenhouse gas emissions by around six tonnes per year compared to a standard new home.
The judges commented: ‘the Z-Range is a compact, conventional design representative of the kind of energy-efficient homes that could be, and should be, built in the display home market’.
The display home was created in collaboration with Curtin University, CSIRO, Sustainability Victoria and other companies dedicated to environmental sustainability. The energy rating of the home is 7.3-stars and it has a VRES rating of 10-stars.
3ARK Building Performance Assessments performed multiple energy efficient build verification tests throughout the build, including testing for air tightness of the building envelope during framing, cabling/rough-in, post plaster and finishing stages, insulation and blower door tests.
HIA Australian GreenSmart Awards were announced on 10 September and recognise the efforts of members who are environmentally-aware.
