2019 HIA Australian GreenSmart Product

Winner: EcoDuct, Victoria

Taking out the award for Australian GreenSmart Product in the 2019 HIA Australian GreenSmart Awards was Victorian member EcoDuct for its low-profile duct system – EcoDuct 300. The EcoDuct 300 series replaces sheet metal ductwork for ventilation in wet areas and kitchens.

The lightweight and durable product is built with up to 50 per cent recycled PVC while the end product is 100 per cent recyclable.

The environmentally-friendly system has been designed for applications where ceiling space is limited, and provides a healthier result with no ribs for dust to catch and collect.

It’s currently replacing sheet metal ductwork which is still largely used for wet areas and domestic kitchen ventilation. EcoDuct is significantly lighter than metal ductwork and can be cut using a four-inch cordless grinder as opposed to a nine-inch grinder which is needed for metal ducts.

The EcoDuct 300 series provides high-rise apartments with ventilation where the bathrooms are situated at the back end of the apartment away from windows, therefore making natural ventilation impossible to achieve and preventing  the growth of mould.
